Storytelling and Book Signing with historian and writer Chip Colquhoun

We are delighted to welcome Chip to the bookshop, celebrating history, storytelling and wonderful books.

Sunday 18th August at 2pm.
All are welcome, and this event is recommended particularly for children aged 4+. Chip’s localfolktales include colossal craziness, hilarious wackiness, and much more.
About Chip: https://storytellerchip.com/
Chip began writing before he knew how. The meaning of his pre-Kindergarten squiggle is long-forgotten, but there was clear punctuation and paragraphs. He had his first newspaper article published at the age of 9, and wrote numerous scripts – some of which were produced by his school to raise money for charities.
But that was all for fun. Chip became a professional storyteller in 2007, and has since performed his blend of traditional folklore and originality in 10 countries. He’s now a regular at Glastonbury Festival, and has written the EU’s guidance on storytelling for schools, a handbook for educators commissioned by the UK’s National English Hub, 5 productions supported by Arts Council England, and 22 children’s books beginning with Cambridgeshire Folk Tales for Children in 2016.
Of the latter, 18 are part of the series of Fables & Fairy Tales he co-produces with the award-winning illustrator Korky Paul. Chip and Korky are also working on a novel together. The focus of all of these (including the English Hub handbook) is on sparking a love of reading for pleasure among new and/or young readers.
In 2018, Chip represented the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre on ITV. He’s currently working on a collection of the folk tales that inspired Roald Dahl alongside Roald’s grandniece, children’s author Emma Pearl.
Among Chip’s many other projects are a YA action-adventure novel, a suspense thriller for adults, and diarising his time living in the former residence of Samuel Pepys with his wife Emma and kittens Tito and Pippa. He is an Associate Artist of the National Centre for Writing. To follow Chip’s progress, and pick up his regular advice and tips, visit storytellerchip.com

About Turtle Moon
Silver Trevelon’s parents aren’t happy. They haven’t been happy since the nursery they decorated started gathering cobwebs, waiting for the baby brother or sister that never came. So when Silver’s dad is invited to paint at a turtle rescue centre in Costa Rica, she hopes it’ll be just the  adventure the family needs.
Under the hot tropical sun, Silver settles into life at the animal centre. She even witnesses a rare  sighting of a leatherback turtle nesting on the beach. But when the turtle’s eggs are stolen, events take a dark and dangerous turn. Can Silver and her new friends track them down before it’s too late? It’ll mean journeying into the heart of the jungle and uncovering long-buried secrets.
